Metallized film is a new type of composite flexible packaging material, of which aluminized film is the most widely used one. In addition, it can also be plated with gold, silver, copper, etc. Aluminum foil is easy to form pinholes in the process of packaging and use, which reduces its barrier performance, so aluminum foil is often used in composite materials with high molecular plastic polymers, paper or other metal sheets.
A very thin layer of metal aluminum is plated on the surface of the packaging plastic film or paper (single or double sides) by a special process, which is called aluminized film. Because the aluminized layer is brittle and easy to break, it is generally covered with a protective plastic film such as polyethylene, polyester, nylon, etc. The aluminized layer is about 300 angstroms thick, which is thinner than aluminum foil.
The substrates (ie, carrier films) of aluminized films are plastic films and paper. The most commonly used plastic films are polyester (PET), nylon (NY), biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), polyethylene (LDPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), etc. The first three aluminized films have excellent adhesion and luster, and are aluminized composite materials with excellent performance. Aluminized polyethylene film is popular because of its low price and good decoration. Aluminized polypropylene film can also be made into an easy-to-open seal for easy-open packaging of medicines.
Using the thermoplastic film as the adhesive layer, the aluminum foil and the paper can be combined together to make a multi-layer aluminum-plastic composite paper. This composite paper combines the high barrier properties of aluminum foil, the flexibility of plastic film, and the folding resistance and impact resistance of paper to become a high-performance packaging material without causing pollution to the contents and human body, it is easy to meet the hygienic and safety standards of packaging; at the same time, because the resin in it can be decomposed when heated to high temperature, the paper and aluminum foil are separated, thus greatly improving the recycling of materials, reducing material waste and environmental pollution.
Aluminum-plastic composite cans are made of aluminum foil, plastic film, and kraft paper (cardboard). This kind of can material is generally divided into four parts: outer surface layer, cardboard layer, inner lining layer and inner surface layer. This composite material also has the characteristics of non-toxic, odorless and non-polluting contents, and can be reused and recycled.
